What kind of speaker is this?
Our ORBITED speaker system is modeled after the Leslie mechanical rotating
speaker. The source of the sound orbits from all four faces of the cabinet.
But there are no mechanical parts. Because there are no rotating mechanical parts,
all the clanking noises have been eliminated. Lubrication is not needed nor are there
mechanical parts, such as belts, to wear out requiring replacement.
The amazing sound effect and excitement comes from the interaction of the sound
with the room outside the cabinet, just as with a Leslie cabinet.
Microphones are no longer needed to hear the speaker and the ORBITED speaker system
is portable and easy to transport.

What is the main use for this speaker? Is this a Leslie simulator?
Physics drives this sophicated speaker configuration to create radiation
patterns and line arrays that are critical to this technology. Therefore, the
ORBITED speaker has an acoustic effect, not an electronic simulator effect.

How would you mike this at a big show? Is there a direct out to the FOH board?
There's no DI out because this speaker system is an acoustic-effect speaker, just
like a mechanical rotary speaker. The effect is generated by the interaction of the sound
coming from each face of the cabinet and the surrounding objects.
Place the mike a few feet away so the sound can bounce around. Mikes and recorders
will pick up all the acoustics.

How is it with multi Keyboards running through it...??
A clean piano can be played through the skamp as well as piano
can be played through the orbited channel and a bypass can be selected
there. The ORBITED effect on piano on the slow speed is quite amazing.
®
has three channels that operate independently, yet
share the power amplifiers and speaker drivers. The ORBITED channel
produces the ORBITED spatial effect while the L and R channels can be
used for two mono instruments or one stereo instrument.
One channel is for the ORBITED and two separate channels can
be treated as either separate mono channels or a L/R stereo pair. The
L/R bypass is the ORBITED digital signal processing.
We looked a long time for efficient drivers with the ability to
handle high power. All the drivers for speakers and horns had to fit
in our portable cabinet design. We knew we would have to find
neodymium magnets to keep the cabinet light-weight.
Since there are eight mid-bass 6.5" drivers plus four horns in
a cabinet that is 25"x25"x7.5" tall, the selection of reasonably
priced drivers in this size with high-power handling is limited. The
compression horn driver had to cover down to 800 Hz and drivers that
would fit in this space and handle high power are difficult to find.
We needed to answer the right combination need of performance, weight
and price.
